Background of Gopeng Homestay
Gopeng Homestay is the only homestay in Malaysia that promote cultures and traditions of Rao ethnicity, originated from Sumatera. It is combination of three villages in Mukim Teja, namely Kampung Sungai Itek, Kampung Jelintoh and Kampung Pintu Padang. It is located about 25 kilometres far from Ipoh, where is only 15 minutes driving to reach that city centre. It was established in 2006 and received its first guests in early 2007. It has unique local traditions as well as Rawanese culture and cuisines, especially Adat Berjojak and Kelamai Cooking. Around Gopeng Homestay, visitors have the chance of experiencing adventurous activities such as white water rafting, caving at Tempurung Cave and jungle trekking to see Rafflesia flowers at Semai Aboriginal Village, Ulu Geroh.
